The last day to add this class to receive college credit is 7/26/2025. The last day to drop this course with no penalties is 7/26/2025. Withdrawing from this class after this date until 7/28/2025 will result in a “W” grade on the student’s transcript & tuition charges will apply. Withdrawing after 7/28/2025 will result in tuition charges & the student will receive the grade earned from the instructor. To drop a course or withdraw from a course the student MUST email Theresa Jennings ([email protected]) with the request. Failure to follow JMU’s add/drop & withdrawal deadlines will result in tuition charges.

In order to be eligible for college credit, you MUST submit your application to JMU by the add deadline. Professional & Continuing Education will enroll you in your class for college credit. You DO NOT need to enroll in this class through MyMadison. As soon as you are enrolled, you will be sent a confirmation to the email address that you listed on your application.

Class: Multiple Methods for Multiple Intelligences
Instructor: Marcia Bird

This course introduces instructional strategies based on Howard Gardner’s Multiple Intelligences theory. Participants will learn how to design inclusive, student-centered lessons that support diverse learning styles.

About the Presenter:
Marcia Bird, owner of Protégé Beauty Education Advising, has over 40 years of experience in education and industry leadership. She was awarded the 2009 N.F. Cimaglia Educator of the Year and is committed to helping beauty professionals reach their full potential.

Fundamentals of Men’s Shaving: Instructor Certification Training
Instructor: Christine Evans

This hands-on course provides educators with the knowledge and skills to teach traditional straight razor shaving. Training includes:

  • Razor handling

  • Sanitation

  • Skin preparation

  • Lathering techniques

  • Shaving safety and procedures

  • Curriculum delivery and student evaluation

    • Barber’s paper towels

    • Comb and brush

    • Cotton pledgets or tissues

    • Haircutting cape

    • Four (4) terry cloth towels

    • One (1) gallon-sized ziplock bag

    • Shaving cream or gel

    • Toner or astringent

    • Moisturizing cream

    • Straight razor and blades

    • Beardless manikin

    • Manikin stand

    Note: These materials are for the demonstration only. Additional tools may be required in full-service lab settings.

About the Presenter:
Christine Evans is a nationally recognized educator with experience as a Paul Mitchell Platform Artist, Sport Clips Ambassador, and Hanzo Educator. She’s worked on celebrity projects, including J.Lo’s 2013 Billboard Awards performance, and has appeared on stages such as IBS Las Vegas and in publications like Vegas Weekly.
